A weekend away in a cabin in the Shenandoah Mountains. (
Tumnus House! Would highly recommend, if you’re in need of a hikes-hammocks-and-stars kind of a weekend.)
We slept little and hiked much more than we’d anticipated, tiring out our bodies but refreshing our minds. It was a weekend away that kept making us say, “Man, it feels good to get away,” which struck me as an especially old-person sort of thing to say.
A “wild” weekend of bachelorette celebrations, complete with goats for petting and waterfall trails for hiking. And way, way, way more food than we could have eaten, even if we’d had an extra day.
Pre-trip pit stop at Ocha with Schoi. Thanks for the ride, chingoo!
Friday night vibes, chillin in a cabin in the woods.
Like I said, Friday night vibes.
And here we debut the selfie stick!
“We’ll just eat a light breakfast before our hike, and then we can come back and eat brunch.”
Hammocks!! In which we swung, in which we napped.
“Some people are trail map readers. Some people are trail blazers. Some people analyze the different kinds of people who are in their hiking group.”
We found a Tarzan swing! Five minutes into hike. Clearly making great headway!
“Wait… Do you think this is it?” “Okay I’ve got my Instagram picture, we can go.”
Looking fresh and chipper at our halfway point cause the first half was all downhill.
Charcutes! Artfully arranged by Artistic Director Isabel Lee.
Brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch brunch everybody! So exhausted but those pancakes were so fluffy and the bacon so crisp-chewy and that mimosa so perfectly mixed. 3 pm.
Watchin you watchin me~
Pool and hot tub time! And one seal in the back there.
How many gals does it take to open a bottle of wine? #dinnerprep # teamwork
We bought meatz from the farm owners who own the Airbnb we stayed at. Fresh pork belly for the freshest sgs night!
Grillmaster and her right-hand lady! Left us wanting for no man to man the grill.
Feast. Featuring grilled farm-fresh pork belly, fondue, tortillas for the taco lovers, roasted veggies, grilled pineapple, and oh those perilla leaves.
“Wait wait get back in there! You complete the aesthetic here.” Throwback to Fire Fridays, though we burned the sweet potatoes to a crisp. (Sorry Meesh! 😦 )
HAHAHA. Best trip mom ever.
Saturday night feels!
On Sunday morning, we took a tour of Cair Paravel Farm — the owners here own the Tumnus House (and a yurt! Also available on Airbnb). The kindest, coolest chef-turned-farmer ever. He owns goats and bees and the biggest, fluffiest farm dogs, though also some sad, sad chickens. That farm tour was a rollercoaster of emotions.
Hello, lil friend!
The least interactive portion of our tour. “Sheep are not the smartest creatures.”
So obviously, the focal point of this photo is the dog and Rebs unabashedly enjoying each other, but can we just pause and look at that angle I’m standing at? What is happening?
“Gettin’ hitched!” PC to Clarisse Abs.
That wide-angle lens, tho! Whipping out the selfie stick for one last pic.
Thank youx7 and a hip hip hooray for the best bridesmaids + wedding coordinator a girl could ask for.
